Flower Essences
When choosing
essences, consider the constitution, interests, desires or challenges of those who will be using
them. Sanctuary Flower Essences may be used alone or as a complement to other essences and
healing modalities.

Dandelion
The
familiar metamorphosis of the common Dandelion provides a powerful clue to the
nature of its essence. Rising seemingly out of nowhere in early spring through
late fall, it does not content itself with one form, but moves from sturdy
yellow flower to delicate white seed head with surprising speed.
The
essence of this flower similarly speaks to issues of transformation, especially
when sturdiness gets in the way of emerging delicacy or there is a sense of
"stuck" energy. Provides a subtle energetic pathway that facilitates
creation and consideration of new thoughts, ideas and methods.

Holly
In
wintertime, the signature characteristic of undying abundance and generosity in
the midst of seeming barrenness is easy to see in American Holly trees as they

Anne's Lace
The
essence of the Queen Anne's Lace flower is associated with a holistic and
inclusive consciousness. The structure of the flower itself shows countless tiny
white flowers joined as if one, around a luminous purple center.
In
a similar way, the holistic view sees and appreciates the invisible connections
that join all of life together around a luminous Center of Being. This essence
works to balance the energies associated with a desire for greater clarity and

Sanctuary
Flower Essences are co-created by basically traditional methods from native and
introduced plant species. The
flowers chosen are from both wild growing (volunteers) and cultivated species
and are intuitively selected. Pure and energetic, Sanctuary Essences embody
an exceptional vibrancy and potency that is quite noticeable. These qualities
are attributable in part to the magical Welsh Mountains area where these
essences are made.
One
of only two places* on earth where black granite is found in quantity, the Welsh
Mountains of Pennsylvania manifest
immensely powerful earth based energies that readily magnetize and magnify the
presence of the angelic and devic realms. Populated
for
thousands of years by people who lived in harmony with the land, the Welsh
Mountains also hold ancient and deeply
ingrained patterns of human / nature / spirit co-operation and co-creation.
These patterns and energies actively assist the development of all forms of
inspired, profound and holistic consciousness including flower essences and help
make Sanctuary Essences both gentle and nurturing and deep reaching and
catalytic.
Sanctuary Essences are co-created in the big circle garden at the home of Aquila
and Rick Little Wing in the Welsh Mountains of Pennsylvania.
"In
1993, after working with pre-made (commercially prepared) flower essences
quite happily for many years, one day I came upon a little garden of
California Poppies in full bloom. They were so bright and lovely and as I
knelt there beside them I was filled with a deep appreciation for the little
miracles they were. As the sympathetic attunement between the flowers and
myself deepened I became aware that the California Poppies knew all about
flower essences and that they were suggesting that they (these particular
flowers) were interested in sharing their Light in this way. This was truly
the last thing I had expected when I stopped to admire them. However, I did
see their wisdom and after obtaining permission from the human owner of the
garden to make the essence, got home as fast as I could, grabbed the only
object made of clear glass I could find (a drinking glass), some scissors and
my book on how to make flower essences. I went back to the California Poppies.
Connecting with them again and re-verifying the intent, together the flowers
and I co-created California Poppy flower essence. It was great.
That
was how it all started. Since that time, my husband Rick has also become
involved in making essences. Curiosity and desire to really learn about the
flowers propelled us far. At first we just used the essences ourselves. As the
beneficence of each essence was revealed, they were gradually introduced to
family, friends and clients, whenever it seemed like one of the
"Sanctuary" essences was indicated. In 1998, the Sanctuary Essences
were offered to the general public through the first Unified Field
catalog."
Aquila
* Where's the other one? Wales! Wales was greatly loved by
Dr. Bach who as a boy spent school holidays hiking and camping there. Later
on, near one of the Welsh mountain rivers, he found the first of the herbal
remedies for which he became famous. Then in 1930, Dr. Bach again traveled to
Wales where he discovered the sun method of flower essence preparation and
defined the principles of flower essence healing.
